01 Granite Commemorative Stone
Imported from Pakistan with a maple leaf carved into its face. Dedicated to all who served in peace. The park's centrepiece since 2008. Bilingual inscription: "This monument is dedicated to those who served in the name of peace / Ce monument est dédié à ceux qui ont servi au nom de la paix."
02 Stone Path & 18 Pedestals
Installed in 2016, the stone path is lined with 18 mounted pedestals detailing all 59 United Nations missions since 1949. The first 8 plaques describe peacekeeping and peacemaking missions; the last 10 depict aid and observer missions.
03 Buffalo Nine Memorial
Honours the nine Canadians killed on August 9, 1974, when their UN transport aircraft (Buffalo 461) was shot down over Syria — the largest single-day loss of Canadian lives during peacekeeping. Their 50th anniversary was commemorated in 2024.
04 LAV III Monument
The white Light Armoured Vehicle III was instrumental to UN missions. This monument is dedicated to recognizing the sacrifices of military members who served in Afghanistan and on United Nations peacekeeping missions worldwide.
05 Lynx Vehicle, Wall of Honour & UN Guard Post
The Lynx reconnaissance vehicle was donated in part by Canadian Forces Base Borden. The Wall of Honour recognizes those who served with distinction. The UN Guard Post is an authentic recreation of a typical UN peacekeeping guard post used in international missions.
06 Bringing Their Faces Into The Light
Walls mounted with renditions and short biographies of the faces of the fallen — giving identity and story to those who gave their lives in service to Canada and the cause of peace.
